Preston over at kissatlanta.com has been nice enough to post the entire self-titled ep from the Austin quartet, For Those Who Know. This is a band a friend of mine from Austin told me about quite a while ago, but I was really slow to getting around to listening to them. When I finally did check out their entire ep I became a full feldged fan who will be doing his very best to catch their first live performance in Southern California at the Silverlake Lounge on August 10th.

On Wednesday, July 12, 7-9pm, at Little Radio (1218 Long Beach Ave.), the NYC-born independent music conference INDIE NIGHT SCHOOL comes to LA. The panel will include some of the most dynamic members of the music industry to field questions from local artists and bands. Scheduled panelists include:
· Jennifer Knoepfle, Director, Membership Group, Pop/Rock - ASCAP
· Kevin Bronson, Los Angeles Times (Kevin will address music journalism and reviews.)
· Laurel Stearns, Capitol Records (Laurel will address A&R/scouting.)
· Jeri Yoshizu, Manager of Sales Promotions, Scion (Jeri engineered Scion’s boomingly successful lifestyle campaign. She’ll address the opportunities and risks presented to artists by the convergence of big business and independent music.)
· Jax, Rock Insider
As always, the night promises to be full of down-to-earth advice for musicians interested in running their careers independently, professionally, and ethically. No prepared speeches, no fluff.
Regular admission is $8 though ASCAP members receive free admission to the event by RSVPing tom@theblackspoons.com with the subject line: “ASCAP” or mention “Little Radio” at the door and the cost is only $4.
Most of the past INS sessions have been podcasted, subscribe via iTunes for some interesting conversations.

Last night fresh back in LA from my weekend abroad I caught Darker My Love at Spaceland who were sicking fuck. I can’t wait for their self titled album to come out, the stuff I’ve heard is great.
