SXSW Day Three

I basically spent all day Friday working and running around so when nightfall came and the official showcases started, I made it my number one point to check Monotonix from Tel Aviv, Israel, who I had read about earlier in the week in a review from Beneath The Underdog, of their show with The Rosebuds at Raleigh, NC’s King’s Barcade.
I cut my time short watching Georgie James, who were really good, to rush over to Flamingo Cantina to see Monotonix completely wow the entire place. The singer started out the set in a trash can, only to emerge and set the drummer’s high hat on fire (guess they never heard of the Great White thing), and then continued to thash about on stage, in the crowd, on the bar, before ending the set by wrapping his face in duct tape.
And that was the best thing I saw on Friday. Seriously check them out at The Smell on March 22nd.
