News Bytes Twitter Next Week’s New Releases
Maybe it was the consistent barrage of blogger hype or the fact that there had to be a way to pronounce an explanation point invented just to say the band’s name in conversation (or type in Google for that matter) that initially deterred me from checking out !!!, but alas, I have finally come around after reading something that described their sound to be infused with afrobeat.
Now I don’t know if the afrobeat description has much merit, but it did get me to listen, and since picking up Myth Takes last week I have been really digging the album, even the parts where they veer dangerously close to Red Hot Chilli Peppers territory on the tracks, “Sweet Life” and “Yadnus” (doesn’t “Yadnus” sound like a cross between the new Battles track, “Atlas”, and the Chili Peppers’ “Higher Ground”?).
Anyways, I just wanted to throw this out there, I know !!! aren’t anything new to you savy bloggers and those of you who are early adopters out there, but I figure there are a few people out there like me who may have been turned off or just shut them out based on the reasons mentioned above. If that is you, take a second to listen, you may just like it.
