San Diego’s The Muslims in Glendale this week

“We don’t know what the fuck we’re doing. And that’s why it sounds like The Velvet Underground. Because it has chords and my guitar is trebly. We like the E chord. It’s simple” says The Muslims lead guitarist Matty McLoughlin in a recent SD City Beat article.
I thought this was great, it’s like fuck all this over postulating that journalists, critics, bloggers, and armchair quarterbacks do, it’s just rock n roll and it sounds this way because the band is young and haven’t mastered their instruments yet. It’s the purest form of the rock n roll, it’s the need to get out their and create something. It’s like the Velvet Underground (who the The Musilms keep getting compared to) and The Stooges, The Muslims don’t have a lot of experience, but who cares, that’s what makes it fun, that’s what made those bands fun.
The Muslims play Pehrspace this Friday June 8th in Glendale, the show is all ages with a $5 donation.
