Bush gives the middle finger to democracy again

bushfinger_pic.jpg

Bush and his administration again demonstrated their utter contempt for U.S. democracy and it’s system of checks and balances when he announced yesterday that he would commute Scooter Libby’s prison sentence, saying, “I respect the jury’s verdict. But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby’s sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison.” Though the power of clemency is given in the constitution, this is just another example of the Bush White House manipulating the system to serve their political needs (hello, Alberto Gonzales) and bail out their friends.

And not to wax political for too long here, but when Pelosi announced that she would not seek to impeach the President, I was with her, there were/are more pressing issues at hand like trying to get out of Iraq. But since Pelosi and the Dems have completely failed to get anything done in Congress since taking over both the Senate and the House. I say go after the impeachment, you wouldn’t look like such limp dicks, which you do right now as you continue disappoint all the people that went out voted for you because they wanted a change.

Anyways, because this is a music blog I will deliver a track to accompany this rant.

Download Neil Young’s “Let’s Impeach The President” (mp3) from his 2006 album, Living with War.
