Eastern Conference Champions CD release show moved to Silverlake Lounge tonight

After having their CD release performance at Cinespace tonight trumped by Spoon at the last minute (quick aside; Spoon playing Little Radio last night = cool, Spoon playing Cinespace on Aoki’s Tuesday night = lame and pandering to hipsters, c’mon every knows that when a band the size of Spoon plays Cinespace something is wrong, remember Trail of Dead a couple years back and Nada Surf just maybe last year…), Eastern Conference Champions have found another venue that will welcome the band and actually probably be a better show.

Eastern Conference Champions will be having their CD release show tonight at the Silverlake Lounge with Vampire Weekend, Faker, and The French Semester. And if there is anywhere the same size crowd that came out last night for Vampire Weekend at the Troubadour, the Silverlake Lounge is liable to be quite crowded tonight, and that’s not even factoring in that Eastern Conference Champions are a local band (well, kinda) and should have a sizable amount of fans coming in their own right. What I am saying here is get there early, the line up is as follows; 8pm – The French Semester, 9pm – Faker, 10pm – Vampire Weekend, 11pm – Eastern Conference Champions.

Eastern Conference Champions debut album, Ameritown and first full length release for Suretone Records, hits stores today, and has been described to me as a more rockin’ Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. To be fair I haven’t heard it yet, I did get their 3 song ep earlier this year though, and would say that description isn’t far off, the singer sounds like a cross between Alec Ounsworth and Billy Corgan and both their respective bands.

  1. The greatest ECC fan in the world loves your mention of ECC and wants to let the world know that the album is outstanding!
Clap Your Hands are a fair comparison, but I would throw in a little Radiohead, Elvis, Sinatra, and Rolling Stones to top off the esteemed comparisons.
    ECC forever!

  2. Also, may the God of your choice bless your blog. In ECC’s name we pray.

  3. [...] More ECC. [...]
