The Parson Red Heads kick off West Coast tour

The Parson Red Heads kicked off their Free & Easy West Coast tour last night at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa and will be hitting their local hood tonight at Spaceland (Long Beach, see them at The Prospector on Sunday, November 4th). I just recently got their new long player, King Giraffe, when it went up on iTunes and though I have been singing the band’s praises from some time now based soley on the strength of the mp3s I heard online, I can now fully attest to their greatness. Out now on Yukon Records, as is their previous album, Field Mouse Carnival, King Giraffe starts off in the vein of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Stevenson Ranch Davidians, but then quicky enters the territory of The Byrds and other 60’s Laurel Canyon bands which is what suits them best.
For everyone who is used to seeing the Red Heads on the schedule each week at the local Los Angeles clubs, get ready for a break as the band will be spending the next month touring up and down the coast. Hopefully this absence will make the heart grow stronger.
