News Bytes Twitter Next Week’s New Releases
There’s a lot of people around Los Angeles that are excited about Wooden Shjips. Are you one of the them? Well you should be. The San Francisco quartet will be bringing their minimalist “space jangle” psychedelia to LA this weekend for what should be two very special shjows; the first is this Saturday at 6th Street Warehouse with Moonrats and Crystal Antlers (Wooden Shjips are the “Specjial Guests“) and the second is on Sunday at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica for Arthur Sunday Evenings with Mariee Sioux and Headdress.
2007 saw the release of Wooden Shjips self-titled album via the Santa Cruz label, Holy Mountain, and the Loose Lips 7″ through Sub Pop. Their two previous 2006 releases, the self released Shrinking Moon 10″ and the Dance, California 7″ on Sick Thirst, are both out of print now.
Listening to the Wooden Shjips one could imagine a fine layer of dust on the band and their gear, as if they had been packed away since the end of the 60′s in some long forgotten San Francisco attic, only to be recently discovered again for a whole new generation.
