WEAVE! and FOOL’S GOLD tonight at The Echo!

Tonight is the final night of Weave!’s Monday residency at The Echo and features one of the stronger lineups of their month long run with Fool’s Gold, Rainbow Arabia, and a band I haven’t heard of before, We Are The World, rounding out the bill.
I really don’t know anything about Weave! other than what little press they’ve garnered, including the LA Weekly description of “tambourine-ravaging set of Sonic Youth-meets Talking Heads-tinged sounds” that I would go on to include The Slits and their 1979 classic full length debut Cut. Weave! currently has a self-released six song debut out now, with a full length slated for release sometime in 2009 on Manimal Vinyl Records.
MP3: Weave! - Bravery
Fool’s Gold were the highlight of the Eagle Rock Music Festival for me back in October as the band turned out a hip shaking rain soaked set of pan-African pop influenced jams, that if one didn’t know any better would be right at home on Awesome Tapes From Africa, that is if the vocals weren’t a mix of Hebrew and English.
MP3: Fool’s Gold - Surprise Hotel
I’ve yet to see Rainbow Arabia live and I haven’t spent much time with their debut ep The Basta either, but was a fan of this husband and wife duo’s earlier work in Future Pigeon. Rainbow Arabia too have a full length slated for release on Manimal early next year.
