Evan Voytas tonight at Silverlake Lounge; New music on RCRDLBL

Don’t be fooled by the unassuming – oh he’s probably just another Westside acoustic singer/songwriter type – name, Evan Voytas has just released through RCRD LBL, his most sonically realized effort-to-date with the 2 song single, I Live This Life Here For You b/w What Would I Do That For.
The A side, “I Live This Life Here For You” lends itself to instant obsession with its The Secret-Machines-doing-Cocteau-Twins sound, while the B side “What Would I Do That For” is more quirky and is a little closer in structure to the songs on Voytas’ debut ep, Introducing Evan Voytas.
Voytas has quite the back story, one that I won’t go into here, but is well worth the read and will make you ask yourself; “Who the fuck is Evan Voytas, and why hadn’t I been paying attention to him earlier?”. Don’t sleep on him any longer, if this kid continues to write songs as good as “I Live This Life Here For You”, he could become our American version of M83.
