With the rise of dickheads bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, POD and the like in the late 90′s, the use of the words rap and rock sandwiched together will forever induce a cringe, regardless of the efforts of Minneapolis’ P.O.S. and Seattle’s Astronautalis, to right the past wrongs of the “genre”. Astronatalis, AKA Andy Bothwell, like P.O.S., has crafted a sound that is as much at home in dingy all ages DIY punk rock clubs as it is in a basement in the Norhteast, fusing musical textures which call to mind Tom Waits, Pharrell Williams, Beck, DJ Shadow, and The Decemberists.

Concerning tonight’s show at UCI’s Phoenix Food Court with Astronautalis, Bleubird, Animental, Sam Farzin is asking those who are already planning on attending to “please please PLEASE bring friends. i keep saying it but while many acrobatics everyday shows are somewhat…niche in their appeal, this show perhaps excluding what is sure to be really quite totally bizarre, animental, is totally accessible for everyone.”
I couldn’t agree more, Astronautalis and Bleubird are “totally accessible for everyone”, especially on a college campus. So bring your friends who you wouldn’t ever think of inviting to a show.
