Enter to win a pair of tickets to see Be Your Own Pet and The Raveonettes at Detroit Bar on Sunday March 2nd

I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for the young Nashville band, Be Your Own Pet, an abrasive pop punk group led by the fiery Jemina Pearl who spits biting jabs all those who’ve crossed her or are just plain old lame. Hell, if it’s good enough for Thurston Moore, it’s good enough for me.

BYOP’s new album, Get Awkward comes out March 18th and you can stream the song, “The Kelly Affair” (wma) or (mov), a nod to cult classic film, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

To enter to win a pair of tickets to see Be Your Own Pet and The Raveonettes at Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa on Sunday March 2nd, just fill out the form below and tell us in the “message” box what type of animal you would like to come back as in your next life.

Be aware that the show is 21+ and is in Orange County.

Monstre Cosmic, Monade’s second album for too pure will be available in the US next Tuesday, February 19th.

Hailing from France, Monade is the nom de plume of Laetitia Sadier when she isn’t fronting Stereolab. Originally starting out as her bedroom-recording project, Monade is now a far bigger beast and a four-piece band that consists of Laetitia (vocals / moog / tambourine / trombone), Marie Merlet (bass / vocals), Nicolas Etienne (keys) and Xavier Chabellard (drums).

Their second album for too pure (Socialisme Ou Barbarie was released by Drag City in 2003, though A Few Steps More was the first proper studio album), Monstre Cosmic was largely inspired by Laetitia’s immediate surroundings, and films such as David Lynch’s “Inland Empire” and “Forbidden Planet.”

So grab yourself a glass of wine, sit back and open your mind. A little culture might do you some good.

Download “Regarde” (mp3) from Monade’s Monstre Cosmic, which comes out in the US on February 19th.
