News Bytes TwitterLast night I was able to catch Pretty Vicious‘ set at the Viper Room, I had been listening to the three mp3’s I was able to find online for almost a month now and was eager to see them live and pick up their full length, Hollywood Forever. After finding a place to park and dealing with the usual door hassels, I arrived just in time to see the start of their set which started with “Shake” the lead track from their album. They went on the perform another 5 or 6 songs from their album including “Romantic” and title track “Hollywood Forever”. Not sure what to think going into the night as I was only familiar with the songs mentioned above, I came out impressed with the rest of their songs and their tight performance. Singer/guitarist Kristen King sounds like Siouxsie and the Banshees over fuzzed out lazily strummed guitar lines with the rhythm section driving the songs along. With honky tonk drum beats and the bass playing the guitar leads, the rhythm section keeps the music from drowning in an ocean of shoegaze.
Pretty Vicious play again at the 3 of Clubs on February 18th.
